Archaeological Museum of Aigion

Achaea, Greece

Housed in the city’s former Municipal Market building – an impressive work by architect Ernst Ziller, the Archaeological Museum of Aigio reopened to the public in 2024, bringing together a new permanent exhibition to the public.

Home to a large collection of antiquities originating from Aigialeia, the Museum undertook the creation of a new, expanded exhibition space for the presentation of archaeological finds deriving from extensive excavations in the region. In this context, our company participated in the public tender for the implementation of the Museum’s new exhibition design.

The entire project was implemented between 2020 and 2023 by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Achaia. The exhibition’s museological sections were adapted to the particular characteristics of the listed building and the surrounding atrium area.

Upon receiving the tender award, MUEVO engineered, produced and installed the new showcases for the upgraded display of the Museum’s stunning collection of ancient artefacts, dating from the Bronze age to the late archaic period.

The Archaeological Museum of Aigion was inaugurated by Minister of Culture, Dr. Lina Mendoni. With its renovated building and enriched exhibition, the Museum not only highlights and preserves the ancient history of Aigialeia, but it is further expected to play a significant role in the future development of the wider region.
