National Memorial of Canada at Vimy

Vimy, France

The National Memorial of Canada at Vimy is a spectacular site dedicated to the sacrifice of Canadian soldiers in Northern France, during World War I.

On this occasion, our company undertook the creation of exterior and interior museum constructions for the Visitors Education Center, which offers a contemporary narrative of the critical Battle of Vimy Ridge.

More specifically, MUEVO provided the display cases and exhibition equipment for the center’s historical exhibits, and also implemented the fit-out of a special wall, that showcased the contribution of the Canadian military forces to the war.

Mirror glass was placed in the interior of the display cases, while metal panels made by lighter and safer materials were used for the gallery’s wall.

Our team went through dozens of processing combinations of different metallic elements, to identify the ones that show the highest resistance to wear, while sticking with the metal’s natural color.

MUEVO’s research into the use and combination of new materials reduced the final cost of the construction, achieving, at the same time, the desired aesthetic result, which was intended to contribute to the site’s storytelling.
