Our first collaboration with the Natural History Museum of London marked an important event: the presentation of a newly identified dinosaur species – the first addition to the museum’s collection in over a decade.
Once a small, herbivorous dinosaur species in North America, the newly discovered Enigmacursor mollyborthwickae is a 145–150-million-year-old fossil that required a custom showcase of high technical specifications. In this context, Ogden Architects conceived a unique display case design that permitted to safely present this extraordinary specimen, while also establishing a new landmark within the Museum:
For this never-seen-before dinosaur, we implemented the architect’s design all the way to the slightest detail, producing a robust showcase, with stone cladding from a monolithic dark stone with natural white veining around the base, integrated lighting, and metal plinth details.
Suspended in a dynamic running pose, the Enigmacursor mollyborthwickae is now on permanent display, hovering over the Earth Hall’s iconic staircase on the museum’s first floor mezzanine.
